A Show for Kids!

Duration: 13 Minutes Didactic Topics: Nocturnal Life & Constellations The World At Night
The show will educate viewers about the diversity of nocturnal wildlife, as well as give a taste of different constellations in the night sky. Strong ecological values are presented through animals such as a toad, a cat, an owl and more. We aim to target children ages 1 - 7. The World At Night made it's first appearance in Grand Rapids, MI in 2015's 50th Anniversary GLPA Conference.

Alexa Alpern (2016 - 2017)
Digital Content Designer & Directing Animator NASA - Cosmo Quest Ward Beecher Planetarium Youngstown State University Alexa is the Digital Content Designer & Animator for the Ward Beecher Planetarium at Youngstown State University. Her wide range of credentials is comprised of 2d and 3d animation, storyboarding, video editing, compositing, texturing, fiction/script writing, and so much more. Her love for the digital media field is widely expressed. Alexa is a recent Honors Graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, who majored in Applied Media Arts with a concentration in Computer and Traditional Animation. During her years at Edinboro, the love for the planetarium world blossomed. Alexa worked closely with the planetarium director to recreate an original slide-based planetarium program into a completely redesigned digital film, from pre-production to post. From this association, Alexa is now a three-time Great Lakes Planetarium Association presenter, in addition to having executed in-house public showings throughout the school semesters. Alexa has won numerous awards throughout her experiences; for thirteen years she trained at the University of Delaware in Olympic Figure Skating with Olympic medalist Ron Ludington and Barbara Rolls Williams. Ms. Alpern was also the award recipient of the George H. Nicholas Memorial Animation Scholarship for Excellence in Animation. She also keeps up with her own personal artwork in her spare time. Currently, Alexa has been working on her own animated television series. She has always been a creator, from the time she could hold a crayon in her hand. She will be sure to continue to grow her creations during the years to come. With great pride, Alexa is the new Digital Content Designer & Animator for NASA’s Project CosmoQuest and Youngstown State University. |
